For families who need help paying for child care, Child Care Networks, Inc. also administers DSS and Smart Start subsidy funds in Chatham County, NC. If your gross monthly family income is below 75% of the state median income, or if you have been referred by DSS, you probably qualify for assistance. Child care subsidy funds can be used to help pay the cost of child care for infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, and school age children.

Parents needing assistance with child care expenses should contact Child Care Networks, Inc. to determine eligibility, and to schedule an appointment if appropriate. Eligible applicants will be issued vouchers which allow the parents to choose their own legally operating child care provider.

Parents may qualify for subsidy because:
  • they are working or going to school
  • the child has developmental needs
  • of a referral from DSS
  • of some crisis situations
